Successful Pioneer Watchmaking Education

In an extremely challenging year for Cambodian educators and students alike, Prince Horology, Phnom Penh's first Swiss watchmaking school, is pleased to announce that the inaugural group of six Cambodian students has progressed to the second year of their programme. All six students are currently receiving a full scholarship from Prince Foundation, which includes a stipend and housing allowance.

On December 13th, 2021, the talented students of Prince Horology successfully completed their micromechanics course, and the achievement was duly celebrated at the centre. They will concentrate on watch servicing in the second year.

As part of a three-part final examination for the first year, the aspiring watchmakers had to hand-make a) a winding stem, b) a pivot gauge, and c) a balance staff that had to meet strict criteria. Prior to their final exams, the students had completed intermediate examinations that covered both watchmaking theory and practise.

Prince Horology students are on track to receive an internationally recognised watchmaking certification. Professional instructors who previously worked at the world-famous Watchmakers of Switzerland Training and Educational Program are in charge of the courses (WOSTEP). Read more here

Prince Holding Group, or Prince Group Cambodia, has supported the centre since its inception through its charitable arm, Prince Foundation.

Prince Horology is Cambodia's first Swiss watchmaking centre, with cutting-edge infrastructure and a comprehensive curriculum that is rarely seen outside of Switzerland.
